Treillage- finds at 75th Street

As I said in an earlier post, Treillage is one of my favorite stores. The space itself is beautiful- with two massive green painted doors that welcome you into the store. John Rosselli and Bunny Williams own it ( Bee Line home, John Rosselli antiques) and with their eyes searching for each piece you know you will find a special piece. Bunny Williams book “An Affair with a House” was one of the first design books I purchased. It chronicles her romance with her country home. Like the store, her country home is filled with beautiful possessions but the overall feeling is one of comfort. The store carries both antique and new pieces, indoor and outdoor furniture, lighting, and garden-wares.

Regale Arm Chair – Painted

As the Italians did in the 18th century, this regally proportioned character chair has hand-carved details and an upholstered pop in box back (held by decorative metal clips) and slip seat. These versatile features make seasonal upholstery changes simple. Available in painted antique white or medium stained walnut finish. Fabric options: Taupe and moss linen twill, sable linen or customer’s own material (COM).

Eglomise Coffee Table

The couture of coffee tables, strutting a 1940’s forged base of gilded iron with an inset, Verre églomisé, (reverse gilt and painted glass) Fortuny inspired design interpreted by Miriam Ellner, on sea green ground.

Hourglass Table

This sensuous table with an hourglass figure is reminiscent of 1940’s Paris. An octagonal pedestal base of hand-applied reeded mahogany pieces finished in old gold patina support a honed, Tulung Agung stone top.

Palladian Partner’s Desk

Inspired by architect Palladio of the Neoclassical Period, this piece has hand- carved details and a flame crotch Mahogany inlay top. It is supported by bold arched ends and columnar legs with dual drawers and sectioned dividers on each side allowing this piece to be used as a console or desk. I believe every room needs a strong piece of furniture of architectural proportions.

Chicken Feather Pottery Lamp

Baluster formed ceramic lamp with lattice incised pattern inspired by Peruvian pottery in warm earth tone glazes. Hand-carved gadrooned base in gilt finish. Their ceramic lamps are hand-crafted in Jingdezhen where the secret of traditional Chinese porcelain was discovered 1700 years ago.

MEASUREMENTS
10”W x 6 ½” D (base) x 19” H (vase height) x 34 ½” OAH (with shade). Recommended shade size is 20” B x 11” T x 14” S.

Nailhead Sofa

Don’t you love the shape of the base of this sofa?! Fully upholstered tight-back sofa with three loose seat cushions is proportioned for comfort. The apron boasts a whimsical curve and is trimmed in French nailheads. Sinuous spring construction. Available in taupe and moss linen twill, olive cotton velvet, or customer’s own material (COM).

Favorite Shops NYC – Lexington 65th Street – 74th Street

After I have installed all furnishings in a room I go on a hunt for the perfect finishing touches. It is the accessories and the layering that adds personality and warmth to my rooms. I need to find the perfect picture frame, bowl, books, vases, candle stick holders, mirrors, art and throw pillows. Listed below are my favorite stores on the stretch of Lexington between 65th -74th.

Ankasa on 65th: Stunning hand-embroidered couture throw pillows. These are statement pieces and come in a multitude of colors. The store also sells furnishings, bed linens, art, and accessories.

Roberta Freymann on 70th: Global goodies, exotic prints, jewelry, and handbags. This is a store to stop in to buy something for yourself!

Mish on 70th: One more store for you rather than your home. the storefront windows always have a beautiful and inspiring display. Head inside to see the jewelry Mish has designed. He infuses color and whimsy into his pieces.

Mecox Gardens between 71st and 72nd: This is a smaller outpost of it’s larger sisters in the hamptons. They carefully edit their pieces and have brought city friendly finds into their jewel box sized store. Aside from furnishings they carry art, picture frames, scented candles, books, and various accessories. Their website includes all of the inventory at Mecox stores across the nation.

Lexington Gardens at 73rd: Their claim to fame is their dried flowers and topiaries. If you hate watering plants or need a beautiful centerpiece for your dining table this is your store! There are huge urns filled with hydrangeas and topiaries of every size. They also sell mirrored planters, vases, lamps, china, and mirrors.

Treillage accessories outpost on 73rd: I adore Treillage. They are constantly changing their displays and creating new and inspiring vignettes. I always have success here. Their larger store sells furnishings ( but more on that in a later post).I stopped in today and snapped some photos of pieces that made me drool. Here you go!

Mercury glass lamps ( there are two- sold separately) etched with a floral design. I would love these to sit on either side of my bed.

A beautiful still life oil by Masson. We have a pencil sketch by Masson of two green apples which I love. The colors in this oil painting could inspire a whole room. Soft yellow walls with ivory and green upholstered pieces. A pop of deep plummy purple for throw pillows and some blue and white china.

Metal lotus leaf chandelier: How great is the texture of the leaves? A modern classic! This could sit above your grandmothers dining table or a more modern one.

The two throw pillows are from the new Bunny Williams collection Bee-Line Home.

Roberta Roller Rabbit between 73rd and 74th: Roberta Freymann’s home goods store. Originally just lounge wear and pajamas (for children and adults) she expanded into rugs, bed linens, table settings, tote bags, and throw pillows. Her oversized tote bags are perfect for carrying all of my fabric samples. Everything in here is full of vibrant color and whimsy. It is a brief escape from the grey wintery streets of New York. Affordable fun pieces that are perfect for a house warming gift.

Il Papiro between 73rd and 74th: This tiny shop is jam-packed with handmade marbled stationary from Florence. Hand bound leather address books,picture frames, notebooks, photo albums, tissue box covers, and boxes make wonderful gifts.

Established in 1976 in Firenze, IL Papiro, re-introduced hand decorated paper using techniques inspired by the tradition of the Tuscan region. Today this technique is known as marbleizing

Anthony Garden Boutique between 73rd and 74th: Not a florist…a garden boutique! This is such a fun store to visit. They occasionally have vintage furnishings and lights for sale as well as beautiful canisters. they offer floral arrangements as well.
