Prada Spring 2011 Campaign

In New York it is snowing, freezing, and all together nasty. The winter doldrums are upon us and everyone needs a mental break. Sping is one of the best seasons in New York. The Winter storms let up and with the disappearance of the last snowflake you can feel people’s spirits rising. The Spring 2011 add campaigns get me in the mood for a tropical vacation. Stripes, bold colors, and fun accessories are my cure for the winter blues. Prada’s collection has me particularly excited. I could definitely rock any of their Spring shoes or cocktail dresses. Bold colors and raffia are a great combination!

New York Fashion Week: Oscar de la Renta Spring 2011 and Oscar de la Renta for Lee Jofa

While some pieces from the spring collection were a bit too retro for me I loved the 3 looks below.  I am always a fan of his embroidery and his lady like dresses.

Oscar’s new fabric collection with Lee Jofa is fabulous! Rich embroidery, velvets, wools, felts, ikats, and stripes make this collection one you want to touch.  Perfect for fall!

I MUST use these for a future client…. a headboard, drapes, wall upholstery….please! The embroidery is stunning and the colors are so rich.

A beautiful ikat fabric in light blue, teal, and green

A rythmic classic stripe in deep navy and blue.

A wild suzani in plums, reds, teals, and yellow packs a punch and would be lovely on club chairs.

New York Fashion Week: J. Mendel Spring 2001

Sighhhh… When the inspiration is prima ballerina ( Earlier this summer, Gilles designed the costumes for the New York City Ballet’s production of Call Me Ben; then he shot his Resort lookbook in the dance studio) you know the collection will be light, ethereal, and down right feminine.  The collection was made up of pale silk chiffon and jersey with a bright pop of orange found in the Christian Louboutin shoes and lipstick.  A few of my favorite looks below:

Monique Lhuillier- Fall 2010

She had some show stoppers this season! Several of these are sure to be seen on the red carpet come Oscar’s

The beadwork is amazing on this little number- greens, blacks and sparking all over. I can see this on Emma Watson, Carey Mulligan, or Abbie Cornish

The color of this dress is amazing! Cate Blanchet or Sandra Bullock….

Black tulle – Amazing- perfect for a character out of “Nine” or Emily Blunt…

Penelope Cruz!!

Isabel Marant Spring 2010

The spring 2010 collection from French designer Isabel Marant will be arriving at Barney’s any day now and I am drooling in anticipation. A few favorite looks from the show:

Above is three of my favorite pieces together. The black fringed pirate boots, striped mini dress in silver lame, grey, pink, and teal. The tweed jacket with the glimmering jeweled edge. This piece will be mine.

Fun, fun, fun! This red Chiffon dress is the perfect night out dress.

I love this striped top. Worn with grey or white jeans it is perfect. The sleeves are great.

I love these shorts and the vest. All of her pieces are easy to throw on and feel pulled together.

Above is one more shot of my MUST HAVE jacket for the spring- glittered edge tweed jacket…..le sigh.

Marant is also opening a boutique on Greene Street in SoHo- it was supposed to open in February so keep your ears open. She will carry her main line plus her less expensive Etoile line. Her jewelry and accessories will be available as well. Start saving!!

The Classics

As an interior designer I am constantly meshing my style with a new client’s. I am challenging them to leap out of their comfort circle with a bold new color, texture, piece of art, or furniture shape. I cannot get enough of pattern, color, and texture but a room needs a few classic staples to ground it and make it feel comfortable. The same goes for your wardrobe. In this post we have included our classic picks for women, men, and the home. Stay tuned for our future post on the classics with a twist.

Her Wardrobe:

The LBD: This neckline and cut reminds me of Audrey ( can’t go wrong with that!) The twist in the front makes it modern day.
