New York Fashion Week: Marchesa Spring 2011

Iconic, red carpet, show stopping dresses. The dresses for Spring did not disappoint- all exquisitely wrought with orientalist-inspired details: heavily bejeweled necklines, hand-painted florals on rolling sculptural drapes, and grand obilike loops that were revealed when a model turned. They conjure up images of all the most magnificent leading ladies of our time and in the past.  You can bet we will see many of these dresses come Oscar time.

New York Fashion Week: 3.1 Phillip Lim Spring 2011

Phillip Lim’s collection showcased his familiar look of clean, neutral, sportswear but added a twist. He used sheer fabrics and applied them in an abstract/ puzzle piece-like way. As usual, the collection had several must have pieces:

From left to right:

1. This trench is a modern classic. I love the black piping!

2. Those shorts are a must for spring. I love the whole look.

3.  The perfect shift dress with a clean young feel.

New York Fashion Week: Ralph Lauren Spring 2011

Ralph Lauren once again drew inspiration from out West and presented a beautiful collection in cool whites, blues, pinks, and tans.  Statement blouses and jackets were seen throughout the collection ( along with amazing silver belts and blanket bags).  He remains one of my favorite designers for his classic and timeless design. A few of my favorite looks below:

Above: All of these slightly more casual looks are perfect for day.  From left to right:

1.  I would wear this outfit in its entirety.  The jacket is a must.

2.  I a loving the breezy movement of the top and pants paired with a heavier belt and blazer.

3.  This dress is perfect with a tough belt and broken in brown biker boots.

4.  I can’t get enough of his billowing pieces and this white dress with suede belt is a perfect example.

Above:  I own many dresses from his previous collections and still wear them all.  His timeless cuts and fabrics make them wonderful investment pieces.  The hand beading on looks one and two is amazing.  The skirt paired with the flannel shirt and suede belt is a fantastic combination.  The soft pink dress is totally me ( in cut, color, and fabric). LOVE IT!

3.1 Phillip Lim- Fall 2010

I have never been disappointed with Phillip Lim’s collections. Fall 2010 was another great one! He showed amazing outerwear staples mixed with some 70s disco glam.

Lim’s mood board:

Tough leather with soft fluffy fur and high waisted mustard yellow pants.

Collarless camel coat- staple

Keeping the sparkle alive for another season mixed with a soft lavender- yum. This is reminiscent of a room I just finished. Lavender grasscloth with lots of soft sparkly gold antique mirror.

Pow! Love this gold suit. The drape of the pants is fab as is the blazer. I would probably wear one piece at a time but love the impact.

The classic trench with warm rabbit lining.

Michael Kors- Fall 2010

Simple (tans, golds, blacks, greys), yet sexy (furs, suede boots) was the look at Michael Kors. Each piece is easy to wear and he keeps his sporty American dream alive.

Kors’ mood board:

This coat is outstanding.

These boots and the Isabel Marant boots are killing me. Must….have.

The shimmering gold dress with the brown leather wrap around belt is so easy to wear and looks fabulous.

Love the camel blazer, trousers and white button down.

Oscar de la Renta- Fall 2010

The Oscar show is always breathtakingly beautiful. He is a master of detail and he showed that once again this collection. The models showcased big 80s hair and make-up and the jewel toned pieces followed suit.

I love this little green jacket.

This long glimmering jacket is the perfect piece for fall – check out the tights!

Ruby red jacket with plum colored fur collar.

I love this whole outfit. Slinky black pants with the white wooly jacket with tight red sleeves poking through.

The staple trench again with furrrrrrrrr.

I love the proportions of this little red jacket- the tie collar and short wrist baring sleeves is so chic.

This dress is skewed towards the younger side- perfect party dress.

This could easily be an Oscar ( red carpet) dress. Totally timeless- would love to find this in my closet!

The beadwork on this dress is amazing. The light catches with the wearer’s every move.

I LOVE this dress. Simple in black but look in the photo below for the back….To Die For. Another Oscar ( red carpet) dress for sure!

The drape of this is gorgeous. Simple and stunning…and behind her you can see the back of my black dress.
